The Philosophy
of Self-Defense

Throughout the coming weeks
the author will disseminate multiple self-defense techniques geared to
produce results. It is the author's wish that you use these techniques
only when serious trouble should arise. Never abuse any knowledge gained
through practice.

It is imperative that the
aggressor should never feel threatened at any time throughout the encounter.
Any lapse in your reasoning ability could prove lethal. Never show that
you know anything; the element of surprise is your best asset. The more
the assailant feels in control of the situation, the better it is for you.

The first technique covered
in this issue is a basic knife defense move. The assailant places a knife
directly in front of his body, with the blade pointed at you. At this time,
you place both arms bent at your sides with your hands opened. Do not move,
remain calm, and wait until he makes his move. If the assailant proceeds
to stab you at the midsection, then quickly take a step back with either
foot. Quickly cross your hands into a pyramid, with palms facing down.
As the assailant approaches your body, trap the knife hand by the wrists,
in between your cross hand pyramid. Trap the arm, and quickly scoop front
kick to the groin area. Place your right thumb behind the backs-side middle
knuckle of his right hand. Then turn the hand clockwise into a powerful
wrist lock. Always keep the assailant's fingers aimed toward the ceiling
while applying the lock. Keep pressure on the wrist until it snaps like
a fragile twig. Every technique that will be reviewed in subsequent issues
always involves a softening technique--kick to the groin area, etc. Remember,
that you must always control and hurt your opponent before any pain technique
is applied. Good luck, happy practice, and I hope to come into your homes
very soon.
